This traditional Tōgatta Kokeshi was made by Sato Chūsaku (佐藤忠作), a craftsman associated with the traditional kokeshi culture of Miyagi.

The kokeshi has a slender cylindrical body and a relatively large rounded head. The natural wood is decorated with restrained black and brown floral motifs, complemented by dark horizontal bands at the top and bottom of the body.

The face is delicately and warmly painted, with curved eyebrows, half-closed eyes and a small mouth. Dark hair sections around the head give the figure its distinctly traditional character.

At 18 cm tall and weighing 112 g, this is a light and refined example. Its restrained palette and simple painted decoration make it particularly appealing for collectors who prefer quieter traditional kokeshi.

The underside bears handwritten Japanese maker's markings. The attribution to Sato Chūsaku corresponds with known references to his work within the Tōgatta lineage.
