Yajirō Kokeshi Shikishi by Takahashi Himeji | 24 × 27 cm

This vintage Japanese shikishi depicts an elegant kokeshi with a vivid red hair ornament and a large stylised flower in red and soft blue-green. The open expression, broad black brushwork and limited colour palette give the piece a fresh and strongly graphic character.

The work is signed 姫司 – Himeji and bears a red artist's seal. Japanese collectors' market sources identify Takahashi Himeji (高橋姫司) as an artisan associated with the Yajirō tradition. Mercari Japan

The simple yet confident composition reflects the decorative language of traditional kokeshi, reducing face, hair and floral ornament to a few expressive brushstrokes.

Dimensions: approx. 24 × 27 cm
