This impressive creative Kokeshi was made by Kazuo Takamizawa (高見沢一夫) and bears the title "Miyama" (深山), which can be translated as "deep mountain" or "mountain depth". The accompanying wooden name plaque shows the title and the artist's name, together with a red artist's stamp.
The Kokeshi has a strong and stately presence. The large black hairstyle with rounded topknot creates a striking silhouette, while the dark kimono is richly decorated with golden floral and leaf motifs. The combination of black, gold, green and subtle red accents gives the piece a refined, almost ceremonial character.
Her face is calm and understated, partly hidden beneath the hairstyle. This serene expression contrasts beautifully with the rich decoration of the kimono. The title "Miyama" adds a sense of depth and stillness: a Kokeshi that does not need to be loud to be powerful.
