This graceful Kokeshi is the work of Japanese master Kojo Tanaka（田中重巳）, also known as Shigemi Tanaka. With her closed eyes and sculptural hair framing the face, she radiates serenity and balance. The twin bun hairstyle adds a traditional charm. Her kimono is delicately painted with red and white plum blossoms – a symbol of resilience, grace and feminine beauty in Japanese art. A refined piece that perfectly represents the Gunma school of modern Kokeshi making.
