This Kokeshi was created by Takamizawa Kazuo (高見澤一男), a well-known name within the sōsaku Kokeshi tradition. His work combines traditional Japanese forms with a more playful, graphic approach.
This is one of those pieces that stands out without being loud.
The face remains calm and restrained, while the kimono does the opposite: rich, warm, and full of detail. The deep blue creates a beautiful base for the gold and red tones, reminiscent of traditional Japanese textile patterns.
The glossy black hairstyle frames the piece and gives it a quiet, almost protective presence.
With the addition of the base, this Kokeshi gains that little extra. It feels less like a small object and more like a true collectible, one you consciously give a place in your home.
Thanks to its size, weight, and finish, this piece has a strong presence. This is not a subtle accent, but a Kokeshi that helps shape the space around it.
