This wooden Daruma is attributed to Osamu Sugawara (菅原修), a craftsman associated with the Honjō (本荘) tradition in Akita Prefecture. Sugawara is recognised within the world of regional wooden folk objects and Honjō-kokeshi production.

The base inscriptions (Osamu) and 本荘 (Honjō) correspond with known references to Sugawara as a Honjō maker.

A compact yet expressive Daruma with clear regional identity. The combination of the auspicious character 寿 and the camellia theme adds symbolic depth and decorative appeal.

A characterful example of Japanese wooden folk artistry, suitable as a talisman of perseverance and good fortune or as a collectible piece.
